How long have you been with Team HWR.

I’ve been with HWR since the beginning. Dottie noticed my work and asked me to join her for a really big photo shoot and I did. I fell in love with her and the team right then and there.

When did you start doing hair and makeup and how did it turn into a career for you?

I’ve always had the gift of hair and makeup growing up. I wanted to be a teacher but obviously my love of the beauty industry took over. I started playing with makeup in 2008 and decided to attend cosmetology school in 2009.

What do you enjoy most about being a hair and makeup artist?

My heart has grown so tremendously for brides! It is my favorite thing to do now because it’s such a blessing to be a part of an amazing day for a girl.

What are your favorite things about vintage style hair and makeup?

What isn’t there to love?? It’s classy as heck!!! Vintage looks great on every single person and is so fun to do. My favorite is are more of the vintage hair styles because it’s not easy for me. I’m challenged every single time but I love the challenge. It’s the #1 thing I practice at home because it really is a specialty to nail these looks.

Tell us your top 5 must haves for hair and makeup.

For hair my must haves are a good voluminizers to prep the hair, ( Big Sexy Volumizing Mousse), a setting spray (Kenra thermal setting spray), teasing powder (Big Sexy powder play), teasing brush (Spornette). For makeup I’m obsessed with Inglots black gel liner for a super opaque coverage and it’s totally waterproof. Last is Colour Pops matte all day lip products. They have so many fun colors and are incredibly affordable.

What are a few of your favorite brands and trends for 2016?

Big Sexy products are my #1 styling product. Also Kenra, and L’Oreal for more budget friendly products. I love Beyond the Zone from Sally’s. Makeup Geek eye shadows and Morphe for inexpensive palettes and brushes.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years, what are your goals for yourself as a hair and makeup artist.

Maybe having one more kid, raising my children and doing hair and makeup on the side. Right now my goal is to perfect certain hairstyles. I enjoy where I’m at in my life and just want to continue to learn and grow.

Any secret tips or tricks you’d like to share with our readers?

Use Big Sexy powder play and don’t be afraid to tease.. the more you tease the better your hair will look after you sculpt it.
