May Bride of the Month: Jamie Dee

We’re excited to share our May bride of the month, Jamie Dee! Jamie’s Team HWR stylist, Andie Piazza, helped her achieve her perfect 60s glam rock hair and makeup for her desert oasis wedding. We’re in love with Jamie’s final look and photos that are featured in this month’s issue of Rock N Roll Bride magazine!

Where are you from?
I’m originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and now live out of the city in beautiful Northern Ontario.
How did you find Heads Will Roll Beauty Salon?
Heads Will Roll Beauty Salon was recommended to me in the Rock N Roll Bride Facebook group. I thought if anyone would know of a stellar salon that would gel with my style it would be the rad ladies there. I poured over HWR’s Instagram and was blown away by the varied and creative work and didn’t need to look any further – HWR was *perfect*.Our elopement is actually featured as well in  Rock n Roll Bride magazine in Issue 08!

Tell us more about your wedding day, from the planning, your location, dress, any special moments you’d like to share.
Jeff and I love Vegas so deciding to elope there was an easy. We wanted dreamy desert landscapes to feature in our day so opted to have the actual ceremony in the desert just outside of town under some Joshua Trees. It was incredibly intimate and amazing to walk hand and hand together in that place.

My dress was from Biba – a modern reproduction of their 60’s/70’s style ones, and was gold metallic. I wore this with gold wedges and a delicate black mystic star shawl with gold beading my bff Diana knit me. A crystal quartz crown from Elemental Child topped off the look.
In addition to the desert we also wanted to have some photos taken in the Fremont. I love Wanda Jackson, and was really excited to see her name on a marquee for a show she was to play soon. Gaby J was able to photograph us in front of the venue which was amazing.

How was your HWR experience, from your first inquiry to the end of your appointment?
My HWR experience was FANTASTIC. So helpful & easy to communicate with from the get go. I was nervous booking from afar for something as important as hair & makeup for my wedding day, without the luxury of time to even have a trial run. But any initial concerns I may have had quickly dissipated when emailing HWR. My MUA was Andie Piazza and she was simply awesome. Professional, friendly and amazing. I was in good hands and she nailed exactly what I wanted.
Tell us more about why you love the vintage style. What were your inspirations for your hair and makeup look for your wedding day?
I used to work in theatre and have always been attracted to costuming and vintage looks. My style is pretty eclectic and for our wedding day we were trying to channel a Rock N Roll 60’s/70’s vibe. My look in particular I was going for a little Glam Rock mixed with 60’s Priscilla Presley meets Snow White.

Somehow from that, Andie understood what I was after, and made me feel incredible with her artistry. My hair is usually crazy curly, thick and super unruly. I still wanted big hair for my day and Andie was able to tame it, making it super sleek with the desired volume and gentle curls.
We chatted about a shared love for Disney while she went to work on me, and the whole experience was very calming which is what I needed as I was super nervous that day. I didn’t realize how hot the desert would be. My hair & makeup stayed put though and didn’t budge at all even in that extreme heat!
Jeff and I can’t wait till our next Vegas trip, and I’m so glad I booked with Heads Will Roll, and would do so again in a heartbeat!
